Apara Ekadashi 2024 Importance

It is says that Shri Krishna had told Pandu’s son King Yudhishthir about the importance of Apara Ekadashi fast. 

It is also said that the person observing Apara Ekadashi fast becomes very famous due to his virtuous deeds. Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Jyeshtha month is calling as Apara Ekadashi. 

This fast is dedicating to Lord Vishnu. About Apara Ekadashi, it is also believed that by observing this fast regular. All the sins of a person are washes away. 

Apara Ekadashi gives auspicious results. By fasting on Apara Ekadashi. A person gets freedom from many diseases, defects and financial problems. 

With the effect of this fast, a person attains eternal virtue. And Lord Vishnu removes all the sorrows and troubles from the person’s life.

According to Vishnu Purana, observing the fast of Apara Ekadashi frees one from sins.  Like murder of a Brahman, demonic possession, lying, slander, false. And giving false testimony, becoming a false astrologer and becoming a false doctor. 

By worshiping Shri Hari Lord Vishnu on this day one also attains heaven.

Apara Ekadashi Puja Vidhi

  • On Apara Ekadashi Varta, the worship of Lord Vishnu starts a day before on the night of Dashami Tithi. Food should not be take after sunset on Dashami Tithi.
  • One should wake up in the morning before sunrise.
  • Mix Ganga water in bath water and take bath and wear clean clothes.
  • Then one should meditate on Lord Vishnu.
  • Then spread a yellow cloth on a plank towards the east and install the photo of Lord Vishnu.
  • After this the lamp should be lit and the Kalash should be installing.
  • Offer fruits, flowers, betel nuts, betel nuts, coconut, cloves. To Lord Vishnu and you should also sit on a yellow place.
  • Take water in your right hand and meditate on your wishes and pray to Lord Vishnu.
  • Remain fast the whole day and listen to the fast story of Apara Ekadashi in the evening and eat fruits.
  • In the evening, light a cow ghee lamp in front of the idol of Lord Vishnu.
  • ‘Vishnusahasranama’ should be recites on the day of Ekadashi. This brings special blessings of Lord Vishnu.

(Those who are not fasting on Ekadashi should not eat rice on this day)

Apara Ekadashi 2024 Upay

  1. On the day of Apara Ekadashi, light a ghee lamp in any direction of North, East and West. By doing this one gets the special blessings of Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu.
  2. It is very auspicious to offer water to the Peepal tree on the day of Ekadashi. Thus, on the day of Ekadashi, light a ghee lamp along with offering water. By doing this one can get freedom from debt.
  3. It is beneficial to anoint Lord Vishnu with a conch. By doing this he bestows blessings of good fortune.
  4. One should not eat rice on the day of Ekadashi, but do offer kheer to Lord Vishnu. He becomes very happy with this.
  5. On the day of Apara Ekadashi, along with worshiping Lord Vishnu. Chant this mantra 108 times – Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya Namah.

Apara Ekadashi Vrat Katha

It is a story of ancient times that there was a pious king named Mahidhwaj. His younger brother Vajradhwaj had a feeling of hatred towards his elder brother. 

Taking the opportunity, Vajradhwaj one day killed the king. And then buried his body under a Peepal tree in the forest. 

Due to his untime death, the king’s soul became a ghost and started living on the peepal tree. The spirit started troubling every person passing through that route.

A sage was passing through this path. Then he saw the ghost and with the power of his penance found out the reason behind his becoming a ghost. 

The sage brought down the king’s spirit from the Peepal tree and preached the knowledge of the afterlife. To liberate the king from ghost life, the sage himself observed a fast on Apara Ekadashi.

On completion of the fast on Dwadashi, its virtue was give to the ghost. Due to the effect of the fast, the king’s soul was freeds from the ghost and he went to heaven.
