- During Pitru Paksha, Shradh is performed on a specific lunar day. Which the ancestor passed away. Select an auspicious date by combining that date.
- Collect the list of materials of Pitru Paksha before the Shraddha. These include sesame seeds, barley, rice, ghee, milk, honey, flowers, and special food items. Also, take your ancestor’s favorite item.
- Clean the house before Shraddha. After that take a bath and wear clean clothes. Now purify the house by sprinkling Ganga water everywhere.
- Light a lamp and incense sticks. Invoke the ancestors by chanting specific mantras. Invite them to accept the offerings, Pind, and water.
- Prepare food and offer it on a banana leaf or plate. Offer Pind Daan which are rice balls made of barley, sesame, and rice as Prasad.
- Now tarpan of Pitron. Offer water mixed with sesame and barley to the ancestors while reciting the mantra. The purpose of this is to fulfil the departed spirits’ thirst.
